Supporting Individual Change Agents
“For change agents, Dreamfish brings it all together. Dreamfish helps you to support your use of self while supporting the planet. You can get real and get virtual. Come on in, the water is fine!”
Charlie Seashore, PhD
Educator, Author, Pioneer in Organization Development
Building Communities
Craigslist Foundation’s goal was to make their educational sessions collaborative and action-oriented, and to build a peer learning community among the nonprofit leaders of the Bay Area. To enable 2,000 nonprofit leaders to self-organize, learn from each other, and effectively share resources, they asked Dreamfish for help with the nonprofit Boot Camp. As a solution, Dreamfish created a collaborative learning design for 2,000 leaders, recruited 30 facilitators from our network, trained their educators in collaborative learning, and provided senior Dreamfish facilitators. Craigslist reports that participants gave the Dreamfish facilitated networking rave reviews.
The Craigslist Foundation’s annual nonprofit Boot Camp played a major role in the launch of my organization, Samasource. This was due in no small part to Dreamfish’s Facilitated Networking. Dreamfish’s experienced facilitators created an engaging atmosphere in which it was easy to make the connections needed to transform my organization from idea to reality.”
Leila Chirayath, Founder and CEO, Samasource
Collaborative Learning
Fielding Graduate University, an institute known for its pioneering PhD and MA programs in Organization Development, Education and Psychology, also serves NGOs, for which Dreamfish has provided facilitation and technology. Dreamfish built the community software for the Worldwide Network for Gender Empowerment, facilitated the strategic planning for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children), and an Appreciative Inquiry for the Jewish Federation.
“I can’t thank Dreamfish enough for the work you did. Clearly you made a major impact. The president told me that she has never seen such a transformation of a staff as has occurred. As always, you are real pros. “
Don Bushnell, PhD
Founder, Center for Innovation in the Nonprofit Sector
Faculty Emeritus, Fielding Graduate University
“We have learned to trust one another, to delegate when necessary, offer encouragement to those who need it, and are working on giving up control, which has often times gotten in the way of reaching our goals. Communication among the staff has
improved, especially with regard to planning and organizing events. ”
Shelley Katz, Executive Director,
Jewish Federation of Santa Barbara
Strategic Visioning & Planning
Case study: In 2006, three hundred scientists in the International Society for Systems Sciences had the mission to collaboratively innovate for democracy, complexity and sustainability. To invigorate the 50 year-old organization and support a rich new vision for the future, Dreamfish was asked to facilitate community-building and peer collaboration among the scientists, building bridges across disciplines, across the cultural differences of the European, South-American, and Asian scientists, and across the generational borders of the younger and older generations of scientists. To do this, we provided process consulting, and integrated into the conference the Dreamscape, a large group process, engaging the hundreds of scientists in participatory art-making, theater, sound installation, and meditation during their 50th annual summit.
Organizational Collaboration
Greenmuseum.org has a vision to support the field of environmental arts to work together, and to empower anyone to use the arts as tools for sustainability. Dreamfish is providing Greenmuseum.org with strategic planning, the building of an ongoing Technology Council, and with software development.
“We can finally realize our dream of interconnecting the many people and organizations involved in environmental art on their own terms. Best of all, the friendly staff at Dreamfish are committed to the people side of sustainability. Dreamfish is what the world needs.”
Sam Bower, Executive Director, Greenmuseum.org
